Day 21: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archive.
My favorite post is little Miss Eloise Clementine's birth story. My advice to any mother or mother-to-be is to write down the details of your delivery as soon as possible, especially if you don't have a blog because it's amazing how fast the time will go and how quickly the details escape your memory. I forgot to write about how beautiful the snow was that day, the largest slowest flakes I've ever seen fell on her birthday. Of course it's important to remember how it all started with a test back in April and my water breaking in the most convenient place.
I recently wrote about my more long-term plans for breastfeeding and it's a favorite because breastfeeding has been quite the journey and this post shows how much more comfortable I am with feeding Eloise. Even though breastfeeding isn't always easy I'm so glad I'm able to do this for my daughter. I'm also loving the confidence exuding from my not apology.
I love this series of photos with Eloise + Ada. They're quickly becoming the best of friends. This photo of Eloise + Husband, even though it's blurry, melts me. Husband is quick to prop her up on his shoulders and she loves the view from the top!
Day 20, Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.
I sometimes struggle with being a stay at home mom. I love it 88% of the time, like it 10% and hate it 2%. I love that I can see so much more of myself in her by way of her behavior [because she looks more like her father] but Eloise has come to rely so heavily on me that it's hard to play pass the baby at social gatherings. She's used to seeing me & only me for the majority of her awake time and that's hard because I don't want her to need me.
I've been making a much greater effort in the past few weeks of at least getting out of the apartment for a couple hours a day for the following reasons
We only have 3 weeks left before we move to the Philippines so I want to catch all the museums I haven't been to & see the sights one more time.
I want Eloise to be exposed to more faces, even if they aren't holding her I hope it makes her less nervous when we're with friends.
I need exposure to adults! Even just in passing it's nice to see other grown ups, especially those with children in tow.
I'm hoping to get a job while we're in the Philippines, part-time would be ideal but I'm growing less opposed to applying to full-time positions [originally I had wanted to wait until she was 1 before being gone full-time,] but until then I'm going to try to make the most of our time together. Eloise won't always be this little & sweet so I need to soak her in while I still can!
today we went to the National Museum of Natural History
and I'm officially calling it as my favorite
I could have spent all day wandering through this museum!
hoping for sunnier days tomorrow! I have to head over to Gap tomorrow because one of the items I recently purchased online has a security tag still attached. Since we're venturing into DC I hope the weather is nice enough to make a whole day of the trip. I still have lots of museums to check out before we leave the country [22 days o.m.g.]
reading I'm still reading Rob Lowe's book. I don't make much daily progress but we're getting there! I read aloud to Eloise every night but it makes my throat hurt so I don't do too much. I don't quite understand how normal talking is fine but when I'm reading my tongue & throat hurt, bizarre.
